The Chemistry Olympiad is a multi-tiered competition designed to stimulate and promote achievement in high school chemistry. The local and U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad competitions are sponsored by the American Chemical Society. Each year, four students are chosen to represent the United States team at the International Chemistry Olympiad competition. The Chemistry Olympiad consists of the following four stages:
- Local Chemistry Olympiad Competitions
- U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Competition
- Study Camp
- International Chemistry Olympiad
Nine high schools (186 students) from the Midland Section area participated this year. Ten outstanding students representing Bay, Isabella, Midland, and Saginaw counties became winners of the 2017 Local Exam and took part in the 2017 National exam on April 22nd. All ten were recognized and received awards at the Recognition banquet on May 3rd.
